Shauna,
Sounds like it went as well as could be expected. Your post expressed exactly my sentiments about how my parents treat me.
I was going to say a lot of things, but as usual Wendy beat me to it, and said exactly what I was going to say. Keep your chin up and enjoy your real relationship with Nick.

Ecce Homo -- John 19:5
by rabotnik inare there any former jws who have come out as gay or lesbian?
if so, were you disfellowshipped?
and how did your family react?

Thank you RHW,
For posting that well thought out and researched post. I have nothing but pity for my ex husband whom I know is a very frustrated and trapped human being denying himself the one thing that might bring him peace.
You and Larc and Mommy are right, we can't fully understand but we can have compassion.

Interesting post Rabotnik,
I am defenitely hetero, but my ex-husband who is still a witness, imo, is a latent homosexual. He is a very frustrated and unhappy man.
I have often wondered how he would be if he just let go of the WT and became what he truly is.
Unfortuately he is re-married to another JW.

God in a box
by aChristian inas one of jehovah's witnesses for many years i was, of course, fully opposed to the idea that the god of the bible was a "triune" god.
for the first couple years after leaving the witnesses i continued to hold strong anti-trinity views.
a few years ago i accepted jesus christ as my personal lord and savior.

Ianao and A Christian,
I like Prisca, have different views of God and the Bible. But I thoroughly enjoy reading other peoples ideas. Especially when the are presented in a civil manner.
It is nice to see some thinking people trying to formulate thoughts. IMO, when we stop thinking we die spiritually speaking.
Personally, I don't think if there is a God such as mainstream religions teach, that he cares what our concept of him is. But I do think it matters to that being whether or not we consider him.
Interesting discussion.

God's will or free will?
by thinker ini've heard many people tell me about bible prophesy.
if the bible can predict future events then it stands to reason that those events are predetermined and man has no choices in this world.
think about all the choices you've made in your life and how different life for you would be if you had done things differently.

Reign,
I like your mind! Even when I was a child, being raised as a JW, Judas and some of the other discrepancies in the Bible bothered me. I must have driven my parents demented with all of my questions. There were just things that couldn't be explained properly. Why create Adam and Eve and the Devil fore-knowing what would happen. Why not just create perfection. None of it really made sense.
Thank God I met Thinker, who helps me to know that I am not insane.
Your reasoning points are excellent.
Not to be rude, but as usual, MDS, answers nothing. Just keeps parroting the same old crap that the Society dishes out as meat in due season.
Larc, would like to hear more about your point. That piqued my interest. And tell Zazz to get herself on here. I want to hear what she thinks about this.
